
Chichghat-Rathi in the Hinganghat taluka of Wardha district has become Vidarbha’s first 100% solar-powered village, officially announced in January 2025. It achieves energy independence through 811 kW rooftop solar capacity covering 70 homes, schools, and streetlights via the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, providing zero electricity bills and promoting sustainable energy.

- Location & Scope: Located ~40km from Wardha in Hinganghat taluka, the project covers 70+ residential households, the Anganwadi, Zilla Parishad school, and streetlights.
- Capacity: The village boasts a total installed capacity of 811 kilowatts.
- Implementation: Developed within just three months through self-participation and cooperation with bank financing, largely under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
- Technical Achievement: Even unconventional dwellings, including 28 tin-roofed and traditional tiled houses, were equipped with solar panels.
