Magan Sangrahalaya Museum

Magan Sangrahalaya Museum

Magan Sangrahalaya is one of India’s most unique and historically significant museums, located near Hinganghat in Wardha district of Maharashtra. Established in 1938 by Mahatma Gandhi, it is the only museum in India founded by Gandhi himself, making it an important cultural and historical landmark.

The museum was created with the vision of promoting self-reliance, rural development, and village industries, which were central to Gandhi’s philosophy of “Gram Swaraj” (village self-sufficiency). It is situated in Maganwadi, an area named after Maganlal Gandhi, a close associate of Gandhi who played a crucial role in developing rural technologies.
